The Generic Course list is a compilation of course descriptions identified by PCS and CIP code. Each individual college maintains its own prefix, number, title, and number of credit hours for its courses. No one community college offers courses in all categories listed, nor should it. The main objective of the Generic Course List is to ensure that similar courses are classified the same at all colleges to provide for equitable funding and comparable unit cost study data systemwide.
